Revisited: " The Importance of Being Objective " By Charlotte Quillen
The Importance of Being Objective
It’s
something we learn to do early in life, a defense mechanism if you will; make
excuses so that we feel better about ourselves, even though deep down we know
what we have done is wrong. This can be as simple as rationalizing the lie you
told your mom when you were seven because you didn’t want to get in trouble, or
cheating on that exam in college because your professor was a douche bag who
liked to put questions on the test that weren’t on the study guide. While no
one likes to get in trouble, and maybe your opinion of your professor was
accurate; lying and cheating are wrong.
Some people go through their lives
rationalizing their mistakes and literally lying to themselves so often that
they no longer have the ability to look at themselves objectively; they believe
their own lie. What do I mean by this? Well, how many people do you know that
are overweight, yet will point out the obesity in others, like they just can’t
believe how someone could do that to their body? Or someone who just can’t
understand why they aren’t reaching their fitness goals, yet you saw them check
in at the Cheesecake Factory yesterday and two days before that they went out
drinking and then last week they were at the Ice cream shop? I cannot count the
number of examples I have just like the two I just listed. The reality is, if
you point this out you are greeted with a barrage of accusations and denials,
but never with that person having taken a step back and then taking a good,
long, honest looked at his or her self before reacting defensively.
See, I can talk about this because
I used to be that person. I have made more mistakes than I care to admit, and I
used to be the one who tried her damndest to put the blame on other people,
never taking responsibility for my action, nor doing a damn thing to change
them. But then my life hit rock bottom so to speak, and instead of rolling over
and letting it crush me, I decided to change. I decided to take that look at
myself that I had been avoiding for so long, and ever since that moment I
choose to be honest with myself.
No matter what you goal is you have
to be able to look at yourself objectively. You must be able to put your
emotions aside, and say “what do I need to work on? “, “What am I doing wrong?
“, “What can I do to change it?” Every single day you must hold yourself accountable,
because no one else is going to. You have to realize, you can’t give 50%, 75%
or even 90% and expect to get consistent results, see consistent progress, or
reach your long term goals. It just won’t happen. You have to go in with 100%
commitment, and be able to take a step back when you’re ready to blame your
trainer for your lack of results and say “Am I REALLY following this 100%?” and
be HONEST. 100% means you do not deviate from your meal plan at all, you push
yourself in the gym (this does not mean barely breaking a sweat, using the same
weights for the past 6 weeks, or missing a workout), giving 100% in cardio
(this mean it should be challenging, you should sweat your ass off or you
aren’t going hard enough). If you aren’t
seeing results, I guarantee your answer is right there.

day to make sure you stay on track, and we can’t take responsibility for you
not being successful. What we can do is support you and offer advice. We show
you the path you need to take, but it’s up to you and you alone to follow it. You
have to take responsibility for your own mistakes, only then can you truly
appreciate your success.
Tips for remaining objective:
1. Keep detailed logs, both for your workouts and meals.
Write down EVERY single thing you put in your mouth, don’t omit something your
embarrassed of. For your workouts, write down the weights you used, and your
rest times. If your weights are always the same, and your rest times are longer
than they should be, your results will suffer. Cardio logs are important too,
write down the speed, miles, and time. Make note of your exertion levels.
2. Take responsibility for you actions! If you eat something
you shouldn’t have, own up to it!
3. Stop making excuses! If you say or think something along
these lines, “Well, I missed my workout today BUT it wasn’t my fault because…”
just stop right there because that’s an excuse.
4. Give yourself more
credit. You made the choice to start this lifestyle change, and that’s
something many people don’t have the courage to do.
5. Set realistic, challenging goals. Set a goal date, and a
reward. And DO NOT BACK OUT for any reason. So, you had to travel for work
unexpectedly, you moved, your sister had a birthday party… refer to #3.
6. Take control of your own life. Maybe your family,
friends, spouse don’t support your lifestyle change. When this happens, this is
a prime example of people who are unable to look at their self objectively.
They can’t support your healthy changes because then they will start to feel
bad about their unhealthy choices.
Remember:
Whatever is on your plate got there because YOU said yes to
it.
The struggle is 90% mental. You can do it, even if your mind
is telling you that you can’t.
Motivation and dedication is a choice. You either want it or
you don’t.
If it’s important to you, you will find a way, if not you’ll
find an excuse.
Love yourself! Know you can do absolutely anything if you
want it bad enough.
NEVER GIVE UP ON YOURSELF.

Fitness Tips: Things to help you Improve your help..
Morning, Afternoon or Evening,
I will be posting a few Fitness tips over over the next few days or maybe even weeks all depending on the feedback we get and if this is helping anyone out.
Here's a little something to think on today if you are someone who is considering trying to better your Health.
*Wake up 15 mins early every morning, do some kind of cardio, it can be anything that will increase your Heart rate.
* A key while doing this is to not drink sugar and fat loaded things, simply have some water or if you know about supplements, a good tasting bcaa will be something of quality, if not the bcaa, then have some MIO or similar.
That's a simple fact that will help you be on your way to better health and this will also make you feel better for the rest of the day.

Protien Muffin Recipe as Posted on IG
Hello Everyone.
So if you follow me on Instagram at @fitnesspoynters or on Fb, then you saw these amazing looking muffins I posted up.
I made these from must playing around with some things.
I have no macro count or anything but you can add it up yourself if you desire.
Here they are and below is the recipe.
Also, be sure you check back in or subscribe to the blog for further recipe posts and if you are interested in our Holiday Savings starting on Friday morning for Black Friday.
In a mixing bowl.
Take 3 bananas, smash them up nicely , leave no chunks .
Add in up to 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
Add in up to 1/2 cup sugar free or semi sweet chocolate chips.
1/2 teaspoon baking soda.
2 tablespoons of stevia, more or less for desired sweetness.
1/2 cup , not scoop but 1/2 measuring cup of any whey protein.
I used 1/4 cup Cellucor Smores and 1/4 cup of Muscle Milk Graham Cracker.
1/2 cup of Flapjacks protein pancake powder, if you do not have this, use almond flour. 1/2 cup.
3/4 cup oatmeal
1/4 teaspoon sea salt( optional)
1/2 cup natural peanut or almond butter: Optional
Mix all the items together, the banana may make it so you don't need to add any liquid but it will really be based on your protein choice, some proteins suck up more liquid than others.
If yours is too thick, add unsweet almond milk or water.
Regular milk works if you don't care for more fats and sugars.
Spray some olive oil or coconut oil spray in your muffin pan, the chocolate chips and blueberries cause them to stick if you don't spray.
Heat your oven to 375.
Fill your muffin pans or cups 3/4 the way with the mixture.
Place in the oven, allow to cook for 12 mins.
Check them after 12 to see how they look.
I did this and cooked for an additional 3 mins.
15 mins total cook time.
Took out, allowed to cool for 15 mins.
Incredible stuff, really really moist on the inside and nice and cooked on the outside. The banana will not fully cook so you want that moisture in the middle.
Place in fridge after cooled.
Heat for 10 seconds in the microwave after removing from fridge.
Top with Walden Farms products for additional taste.

Incredible stuff, really really moist on the inside and nice and cooked on the outside. The banana will not fully cook so you want that moisture in the middle.
Place in fridge after cooled.
Heat for 10 seconds in the microwave after removing from fridge.
Top with Walden Farms products for additional taste.

Tabatha's Journey to Forever Fit.... Transformation Story
Hello everyone, I really hope you are all doing well , staying motivated, staying driven or just enjoying life for that matter.
I have a friend on Facebok who has made a really great decision in life and has made some really great progress and I asked her to write up a little something so I could share it with you guys.
I am sure many of you can relate and hopefully this will inspire and motivate you to take things to a new level in life.
We all deserve the best and the best way to make sure we live the best life and to the fullest is to get our health in check.

But today, we are sharing the story of " Tabatha Camacho" .

Here is a little insight about Tabatha...
"As a child I was always on the chunky side. That is not a surprise at all considering I lived in a house where I ate what I wanted, when I wanted. When I finished a meal I could go get something off the candy table.
Anytime throughout the day when I wanted something I just went and got it. Gravy and biscuits for breakfast, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and fried potatoes for lunch, grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner and a snack of a fried chicken patty sandwich with chips before bedtime. By the time I was in high school I was pushing 230 lbs and was wearing a size 18.
I continued with this process through college, graduate school, and 2 kids. About a year after my 2nd
child I had reached a point of desperation. I was eating at most 1200
calories a day. I was running 4+ miles a day, and I was just not losing
weight. I was desperate, and my husband knew it. At that point he gave
me the best gift he has ever given me, for my birthday he gave me a gym
membership and a consultation with a personal trainer(Jim McDaniel- Glenn Fords Fitness Center/ Lexington). I really do
consider that point in my life to be when I turned a corner. I started
strength training 3 to 5 days a week and doing cardio on a regular
basis. I totally revamped my diet to include real food, as opposed to
the over processed “fat free” junk I had been eating before, and most
importantly I started seeing the changes in myself that I wanted to see.
The most beautiful part of the transformation, when you reach this
point, is that the changes that are taking place inside become just as
important as the ones you are seeing on the outside. I gained confidence
in myself and no longer placed my self worth on the number I saw on the
scale. I started to appreciate my body for the things it could do. Most
importantly I started to love myself and in the end, nothing is as
important as that."

I
knew I had a problem, I also knew I had to change. But how do you do
that, how does someone change? Looking back on it all now, I wish I
would have had some of the insight that I do now. At that point in my
life change for me was eating all the unhealthy processed food out there
that catered to dieters. If it said “low fat” or “fat free” I tried it.
I wont lie, I lost weight, I lost 40 lbs in a short time. I also lost
energy, I lost concentration, I gained health problems and in the end I
didn’t feel any better about myself than I did when I was 40 lbs
heavier. I never really liked myself or felt like I was making an
improvement on myself, even though the number on the scale was going on.
